V2X Projects
In 1997, Raytheon/Hughes Aerospace developed the world’s first open road tolling system for the Toronto, Ontario, 407 Electronic Toll Road
Today V2X operates that same toll system engineering group, supporting AET systems worldwide.
Massachusetts Statewide AET
V2X built the first statewide AET for the Massachusetts DOT with 32 toll zones from Boston to West Stockbridge. The system features overhead laser vehicle detection and classification sensors from OSI Autosense and Idris in-ground electromagnetic vehicle and axle counters from Neology. Because the system build trips using passages under multiple gantries, the rate of undetected vehicles is essentially zero. A revenue sharing agreement to invest in license plate training far above the KPI requirements for the Q-Free Insight optical character recognition system has produced millions of dollars of extra revenue and savings.

Virginia I-95/I-495 Installation
V2X created the first reversible direction express lanes for Transurban in Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. The V2X AET roadside solution integrates with a dynamic pricing system for setting the current fare schedule based on traffic and highway service levels.
Cross Israel Highway
The worlds second All Electronic Tolling system was deployed starting in 1997 for the Cross Israel Highway 6 and became fully operational in 2002. The highway provides an efficient north–south transportation corridor in Israel while allowing drivers to bypass the traffic-congested Tel Aviv region in the country’s center. Thus, it is the easternmost major highway in Israel, in some places located almost right on the Green Line. Currently, it is 204 km long, all of which is a controlled-access highway. V2X continues to provide expansion and system improvements today.

Toronto 407 Electronic Toll Road
The world’s first All Electronic Tolling system was started in 1997 for the 407ETR in Toronto, CA. The system includes mobile enforcement readers on law enforcement vehicles. V2X trained Cantoll technicians who now maintain the system with Level 3 support from V2X. Through system data analysis and weekly performance reviews, we have continuously provided on-going support and more importantly, on-going performance improvements contributing to Cantoll’s exceptional revenue capture rates.
